ABOUT THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SPINE SURGERY
The American College of Spine Surgery (ACSS) was organized in 1999 with Charles D. Ray serving as the founding president. The College has been duly constituted under law with officers, directors and committees as defined in its bylaws. The College is not-for-profit as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. tax code.
ACSS was created with the following objectives:
ACSS has developed an excellent refresher course for all surgeons whose practices include surgical treatment of disorders of the spine. The review course is held in the summer of each year and includes didactic lectures as well as sessions dedicated to the innovative advancements in the specialty of spine surgery. We recommend this course to all ACSS members, as well as candidates who are preparing for their board certification exams. The lectures are presented by renowned surgeons. Registration and CME credits are provided to members at a reduced cost.
As of 2018, American College of Spine Surgery is a partner with Doctors Without Borders.

- to promote suitable and appropriate education and training in the field of spine surgery;
- to sponsor suitable and appropriate educational programs in the field of spine surgery; and
- to accredit suitable and appropriate residency and fellowship training programs in the field of spine surgery.
